There are times when someone else’s words express exactly how you’re feeling. That is how I felt when I read my friend’s, Marly Q, email yesterday. Marly just launched a podcast that’s all about inspiring acts of kindness. She and I recorded an interview two days before I landed in the hospital with a sudden life-threatening case of pneumonia, two months before Corona Virus hit, and 5 months before the tragedies of George Floyd and Amy Cooper happened. Even though our interview was released so appropriate for today — maybe because kindness is important every day.
Today instead of writing my own post, I’ve decided to share Marly’s with you, because her words are exactly how I’m feeling…
This dark time of crisis, tragedy & civil unrest is calling me to have the courage to be still, listen & look over the edge of fear, violence, anger, hate, judgment, blame, grief & despair.
When I look & listen, really listen, what I see & hear is a cry for love. A cry to be seen, heard, understood & valued. A cry for connection, unity & equality. A cry for change.
I am at a loss for inspirational words or solutions right now, but what I know is this…
“We cannot solve problems with the same thinking we used when we created them” – Albert Einstein
…The only way to create real change is from a place of LOVE.
It is only from love that we are able to access solutions & create a new standard for manKIND.
Today’s podcast episode with Caroline de Posada, speaker & author of Looking Over the Edge, was recorded BC (Before Corona) & while listening back I realized how relevant it is to what we’re experiencing.
In addition to Caroline’s book, we also talk about :
Why do we feel guilty when we don’t make being kind a priority?
The kindness it takes to put our ego aside to listen to our inner calling.
The power of looking for the lesson in everything that happens.
How we’re always in training for something bigger.
MAKE TIME to listen to this episode because it’s filled with gold nuggets to enrich your day with the currency of kindness!
