We have one foot out the door of June and the other one ready to step into July.
It’s an important practice to reflect on what’s been, acknowledge what is, and plan for what’s coming.
This is an exercise you can repeat daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.
It doesn’t have to require a huge time investment. It could be as simple as taking a few notes in your journal or phone, or taking some mental notes as you drive, walk, or carve time for yourself. (I enjoy writing them down more because I can refer to it later).
This is the practice of living with intentions.
WHAT’S BEEN
Reflecting on June, I can say it’s been a hard month for my family, as my sister’s health issues have consumed us. But despite the hardships, there have been some beautiful moments of connection, love, and togetherness. These difficult times have shown us what a united family we are, and that is such a gift.
WHAT IS
The journey with my sister isn’t over.
In fact, it’s only just begun.
This is a time we get to live in the both, and.
This is both a challenge and an opportunity.
We are in the messy middle, which is both brutal and beautiful.
Right now is the time for us to strengthen our CORE as a family and as individuals. It’s time to get clear on our goals and priorities, organize ourselves and tap into our resilience and emotional intelligence as we deal with the challenges we’re facing.
WHAT’S COMING
As I thought about my intention for July, I chose the theme INTERRUPT.
An experience I witnessed at the hospital prompted this theme.
On a scale from 1 to 10, my sister was at a level 12 in pain. The pain was excruciating. You could see the pain in her face as her jaw tightened, her eyes squinted, and she clenched her teeth. I was there with my brother, mom and stepdad, and my niece. There was nothing we could do for her at that moment.
Suddenly, I glanced out the door, which had a direct view of the elevators. I saw a man walking in holding a bouquet of roses, followed by 3 young men. My mouth dropped when I realized it was my husband and kids. They had driven 2 ½ hours to come see my sister for her birthday.
As they walked through the door, and my sister saw them, the surprise was so great she cried. For a little over a minute, my sister had no pain. The moment was so profound that I saw her completely change. A smile softened her face, tears rolled from her eyes, and the hugs soothed her stiff body.
It was a spark of bliss, and for a moment, it interrupted the pain.

INTERRUPT THE PATTERNS
Her relief only lasted a minute. Soon the adrenaline wore off, and her brain found the pain again.
But the possibilities stuck with me.
That experience showed me the power of our minds.
It showed me the truth in the principle that nothing has to change for everything to change. It proves that energy flows where focus goes.
Now the question becomes, how can she hold on to that power? I don’t have those answers yet — but seeking them is part of my purpose.
What I know right now is that there is value in interrupting patterns.
Interrupting patterns shifts focus and momentum.
That’s why I’m focusing on interrupting patterns this July — for my sister, my family, and myself.
I want to interrupt so I can disrupt what does not serve us.
I want to introduce interruptions that shift the momentum for my sister and change the trajectory of her life.
I want to use interruptions to become more of a ninja — stealthy, flexible, and resilient.
Come to think of it, the interruptions may just be a strategy in creating a life that allows bliss to find us.

That’s what I’m talking about in today’s podcast episode. Tune in and let me know if this resonates with you, and what theme you’re choosing for July.
Sending you light and love today and always!
