I don’t remember if I ever told you the theme I chose for January. I did talk about not being quite ready to sprint into the new year, how January is still part of the wintering season, and feeling blah.
Well for me the January was Gentle January.
I moved my body regularly, but I approached exercise with less intensity than usual.
I read and meditated in my sauna more, but I also indulged more.
I reached out to people who I wanted to learn from and/or process some of the stuff I was going through, but I also allowed myself to sit in my feelings (with gentleness rather than judgment).
Overall, I was less intense, less strict, and more okay with that.
But the beauty of a season is that it does not last forever. Everything is temporary.
The time has come to move from Gentle January into Forward February.
There is a time to slow down, and a time to pick up the pace, create some urgency, and add some intensity to you life.
It’s time to wiggle my way out of my current comfort zone and be willing to face the discomfort, pain and uncertainty that lies just outside it.
I am kicking this journey off today with the 5-day fast I do each quarter.
I love that I get to start this fast gently in January and move into February picking up that forward momentum along the way.
In The Tools, Phil Stutz teaches about the force of forward motion, and how, in order to tap into this force, “you need to move relentless forward in your own life.” He further states that when you are “in forward motion, your life becomes like a radiant star, expanding outward.”
As you take time to reflect on this Sacred Sunday, think about the theme you’re going to choose for your February. Take a few moments to set your intentions for this new week and upcoming month. And if Forward February resonates with you, feel free to adopt it as your theme for the month.
If you’ve never used this practice of creating themes and choosing words, I highly encourage you to try it. It is part of the magic of creating a life that sparks bliss.
Sending you lots of love on this Sacred Sunday, and I can’t wait to see what Forward February will bring us all.
