I don’t know if you needed to read this on this Sacred Sunday, but I downloaded this message in my dreams last night.
It felt like someone woke me up and whispered,
“Hey, you need to send this out today.”
The message was this:
You are trying too hard to resist feeling/thinking a certain type of way about the circumstances in your life. Something triggers you and you’re more upset at yourself for feeling “triggered” than you are about how you choose to respond to it.
When you experience these initial feelings/ thoughts, you are confronting your humanity.
Be compassionate about this part of yourself.
Your choices lie in what you do AFTER you experience the thoughts/feelings.
Victor Frankl, in his life-changing book, Man Search for Meaning, wrote, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.’
Focus on that space, not on the stimulus.
When you understand you are not your thoughts or emotions, and that there is nothing wrong with you for what you’re feeling, you reclaim your power.
You’ll also notice that when you become a neutral, curious, witness to your feelings, thoughts, and emotions, you learn from them. And when they have served their purpose, they will slowly disappear.
It’s like the saying: “What you resist, persists.”
When you stop resisting things you don’t want, they stop persisting.
There it is.
It’s an unusual Sacred Sunday email for me, but I’m following my gut and sending you what came to me.
I hope it serves you well.
