Have you ever felt like you did everything you were supposed to do and things still didn’t work out? It happens all the time. You follow a diet but don’t lose the weight. Even though you work on your marriage, you still get divorced. You commit to the business plan but can’t seem to sell.
Why?
How is it you can do all the right things and things still go wrong?
I remember feeling the frustration of this very question when we discovered my dad’s cancer was spreading. He’d tried all the things: western medicine, integrative medicine, and alternative medicine. He had the right attitude and mindset, exercised, laughed a lot, and followed all his treatments to the T. He did everything he was supposed to do!
I’ll never forget the words Dr. Sanchez said to me as I demanded to understand why my dad wasn’t getting better.
“We just don’t have all the answers,” he said, his soft voice revealing both his sadness and deep empathy.
This may leave you questioning, “Then, what’s the point in even trying?”
And to that question, my answer is that it is our responsibility to do the work, even though we can’t control the outcomes. We may not know how things will turn out, but there is always purpose in the journey. If we pay close attention, there are lessons for us in all of it.
Not too long ago, my friend and chiropractor, Dr. Marcelo Pereyra, faced this very paradox. He was the picture of health and wellness, doing all the things to maintain a peak state until COVID left him hospitalized and fighting for his life.
Join us tonight as I’ll be interviewing Marcelo on his personal journey to overcome illness, what he learned from it, and how we can all approach health and wellness in an uncertain world.
