Make This Habit Your Lifestyle

Bliss is within you. All you have to do is listen for it.

Welcome to episode 38 of Bliss’n Up! This week, I’m reflecting on the incredible feedback I received from you all about last week’s episode—it truly warmed my heart to hear how it resonated. Your messages remind me why I do this, so thank you!

In today’s episode, I dive into the transformative practice of journaling. I share three types of journals I’ve been keeping that have profoundly impacted my life: a success file to celebrate daily wins, a synchronicity journal to capture magical, meaningful moments, and Emily P. Freeman’s Next Right Thing Journal for thoughtful reflection. I explain how these practices create a lifestyle of reflection and offer actionable ways for you to start your own journaling journey.

Key Topics Discussed:

Why Journal?
Journaling is a simple yet powerful way to reflect and enrich your life. It’s like having a conversation with yourself—a space to process thoughts, celebrate wins, and find clarity.

  • January, with its fresh start energy, is the perfect time to build a journaling habit. You don’t need fancy tools; just a notebook and a few minutes a day can make a big difference.

Journals I Keep

Success File

What it is: A place to document your daily wins, no matter how small.

    • Why it matters:
      • Builds confidence by reminding you of your accomplishments.
      • Tracks progress over time, giving you a clear picture of your growth.
    • How to use it:
      • Each evening, jot down 1-3 things you’re proud of from the day. These could be professional achievements, personal victories, or even moments of kindness no matter how big or small.
      • Revisit it when you need a boost or during goal-setting sessions.
  1. Synchronicity Journal
    • What it is: A space to record magical, joyful, or serendipitous moments.
    • Why it matters:
      • Helps you notice the beauty and wonder in everyday life.
      • Encourages gratitude and a positive mindset.
    • How to use it:
      • Write about moments that felt special or meaningful—like an unexpected connection, a vivid sunset, or a perfectly timed opportunity.
      • Reflect on patterns or recurring themes over time.
  2. Next Right Thing Journal
    • What it is: A tool to help track your experiences, thoughts, and emotions throughout the year through various lists and prompts.
    • Why it matters:
      • Promotes self-awareness and intentional growth.
      • Simplifies decision-making by focusing on the immediate next step.
    • How to use it:
      • Use prompts like “What energized me today?” and “What felt heavy?”
      • Reflect weekly to identify trends and make adjustments.

Your Turn
Start with what feels natural for you. Pick one journal type or combine elements from each.

  • Keep it simple: aim for consistency over perfection. Even a few lines a day can make a difference.
  • Experiment and adjust as needed. Journaling is personal—make it work for you!
