This week, I’m sharing an important reminder: bliss is not something you can chase, force, or guarantee—not even in Paris. After a conversation about whether certain experiences, achievements, and places are supposed to make us happy, I began reflecting on the pressure we place on ourselves to feel a certain way.
In this episode, I’ll guide you through a simple reflection to reconnect with the moments when you’ve felt laughter, peace, love, accomplishment, joy, and deep harmony.
Those fleeting, powerful moments are sparks of bliss. And the goal isn’t to manufacture them—it’s to live with enough intention, self-awareness, and freedom from expectations that you can recognize them when they arrive.
Key Takeaways:
[04:00] What Bliss Actually Feels Like: Bliss is not one specific emotion or destination. It can show up as deep laughter, profound love, peace, accomplishment, harmony, excitement, or joy—often as a brief but meaningful spark.
[09:59] You’re Not Guaranteed Bliss in Paris: A beautiful trip, successful career, money, marriage, or a picture-perfect life does not automatically create bliss. External circumstances cannot promise an internal feeling.
[10:24] The Danger of “Should” Thinking: When we believe we should feel happy because our life looks good on paper, unmet expectations can become self-judgment. Nothing is wrong with you if the feeling is not there.
[14:08] Why Contrast Matters: Bliss is often fleeting because we learn through contrast. Allowing ourselves to experience discomfort, disappointment, and other hard feelings helps us better recognize joy when it appears.
[23:01] Let Go of the Itinerary: A story from London reminds us that releasing expectations and choosing what is truly aligned—rather than what we think we’re supposed to do—can transform the entire experience.
[25:13] What to Chase Instead: Rather than chasing bliss directly, go inward with acceptance and curiosity. Notice what feels true, release the “shoulds,” and create space for unexpected sparks of joy to find you.
